How do I draw a diagram of an ionic compound dissolved in water?
Q. How do I draw a diagram of an ionic compound dissolved in water? What do I draw? Also, how do I draw a diagram showing a covalent compound dissolved in water?
Asked by ct1 - Tue Jan 15 19:12:11 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You are making solutions in these diagrams. In a solution, the solvent, water, surrounds the solute molecules. This is why they seem to disappear. Ionic compounds will break apart into their component ions in water, while covalent compounds remain as molecules, not breaking apart. An example would be table salt as your ionic compound and sugar as your covalent compound. The diagram of the ionic compound would show water molecules surrounding the positive and negative ions which make up table salt, while the diagram of the covalent compound would show the entire sugar molecule surrounded by water molecules.

A. Visit a junk yard in your area and find a similar truck to compare the hose routing on. Take notes and photographs while your there. Alternately, ask someone if you can take photos of their truck engine etc. Find local junk yards in your area through:

What is the best type of diagram to compare two sets of data?
Q. The data set includes the number of cars, buses, taxis, motorcycles, bicycles, vans and lorries that go by in 10 minutes. The question says i have to show this in an 'appropriate' diagram and compare it with a friend's data set (of the same observations). I was thinking of using bar charts to compare them? What is the most appropriate diagram to use and why? Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks!
Asked by Buttercup D - Wed Nov 25 15:58:16 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes, since you're talking about how many, a bar chart would be good. If you were talking about percentages, a pie chart would be good.

Where can I find a wiring diagram for the controls on a hydronic heating system?
Q. I have a hydronic heating system (with two zones) in my house and the control wiring looks very questionalbe, I recently purchased the house and I think the previous owner tried to by-pass or repair it, at any rate there are wiring nuts and electrical tape everywhere and it does not look professional at all. I want to start for the beginning and see if can check the system out. To do that I need to start with a controls wiring diagram, does anyone know where I can find that info on the web?
Asked by TJ - Mon Apr 30 23:10:48 2007 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. You may be better off contacting a supply house that sells the brand of zone valves used in your system. If you have problems with the valves there should be a manual bypass on the valve itself so you should not have to alter the wiring to get them open. To be honest I wouldn't encourage you to do this work yourself, it can be complicated, call a heaing guy.

Asked by ohokay - Fri Dec 14 03:24:42 2007 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think this isn't really clear: the enthalpy of a system depends on what its composition is. Maybe what you're thinking of is something like the diagram at , except with enthalpy plotted rather than free energy. In most cases, the x-axis is a generic "reaction coordinate," and it's used in a more qualitative fashion (at least on the x-axis).

How do I try a diagram to put into my powerpoint presentation?
Q. I've tried to draw my diagram directly into powerpoint but I'm finding it difficult as there doesn't seem to be an option to draw lines freely - only straight lines. Is it possible to produce my image in a different program and then transfer it over (I also need to put text onto the diagram). What would be best? Thankyou :)

A. Insert a diagram slide. I'm not sure if you mean a graph or an organizational chart. PowerPoint will help you create it. If you're looking to draw curve lines, you don't need to insert a diagram. Just use the drawing tool and draw to your heart's content.

How do I start this biochem diagram?
Q. Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone has any ideas how to start this question I am stuck on. Diagram how the mobility of OH- ions in solutions is much higher than for other ions. Include at least five water molecules in the diagram.
Asked by julie - Mon Sep 7 11:48:37 2009 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I think what this question is trying to get at is how protons are easily passed between water molecules. It's a bit like dominos, or like a wave to me. You pass a proton to one water to make a hydronium, and you produce a hydroxide. But then another proton can shift to that hydroxide to "move" the hydroxide along. This won't happen with other ions in water because those ions are not a component of water like hydroxide is. You could draw a diagram with three water molecules and show how they change over time as the hydroxide is mobilized. Hope that is clear enough. Good luck!

how do you read a potential enregy diagram?
Q. On my chem homework, a diagram called potention energy diagram is given. You need to be able to tell the potential energy of the products and reactants and the activation enrgy, the heat of reaction, and what would happen if a catalyst were added.

A. Okay, cool! The diagram is set up so that on the horizontal x-axis is the "reaction coordinate," which is basically just time as the reaction proceeds. The vertical y-axis is energy. The potential energy of the reactants is where the graph curve starts, touching the y-axis. The potential energy value is the y-value at this location. Where the graph curve levels off at the end is the products, so the potential energy of the products is the y-value where the curve levels off. The activation energy is how much energy had to be added into the system to get to the activated complex, located at the peak of the diagram's curve. Take the y-value at the top of the curve and subtract from the the potential energy of the reactants. The… [cont.]

A. You don't need a diagram. You have a hole in the oil pan. It's about the lowest part of the engine in relation to the ground. Have the car TOWED to your local reputable repair shop and get a new pan. The pan might cost about 125.00, but be prepared for some labor. If memory serves me correct, part of the frame needs to be removed to get access to the pan.

How do you draw a electron dot diagram for aluminium?
Q. I need to draw an electron dot diagram showing the number of protons, electrons, and neutrons for aluminuim. I need help. I looked at other examples of electron dot diagrams bu i dont seem to get it. I'm confused
Asked by happy.girl - Sun Dec 10 00:26:00 2006 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. First of all, an electron dot diagram only shows electrons. Protons and Neutrons aren't involved. Second, the diagram only shows the number of electrons in the element's valence (outermost) shell. Aluminum has 3 valence electrons. That's 3 electrons in its outermost shell. To draw it, you write the element's symbol: Al and surround it with 3 dots. It doesn't matter where you put the dots around the 'Al' as long as there are 3.
