How to adjust headlights on a 2000 Dodge Stratus?
Q. My 2000 Dodge Stratus headlights are kinda pointing toward the ground too much to see... i can only see about 40-50 ft in front of the vehicle and that's even with the bright lights on. the headlight covers are pretty scratched up and foggy... please give any suggestions on how to adjust the lights or give me a site explaining how or maybe a site that has the headlight covers for sale? thank u so much

A. Scratched Foggy headlight covers. Take toothpaste and a damp cloth and rub and rub and rub. They will clean up like glass, but it takes some elbow grease. Now to adjust, find a flat surface with a wall or building in front of you. Measure 25 feet from the building to your headlight. Make sure you are straight. Now measure from the ground to the center of your headlight bulb. Now take a piece of electrical tape about a foot long and measure up on the wall and put it on horozontally. Site down the side of your car from rear to front and see where that is on the wall. Now measure from the side of your car to the center of the headlight and then put a piece of electrical tape vertically on the wall crossing the horozontal piece. Now… [cont.]

A. pop the hood, look at the back of the head light, there should be at least one socket where the wire runs into the lamp, you can turn this or it may snap in, then pull out the bulb put the new one in - try and not touch it with your fingers, the put it back in. the only hard part will be getting to come out of the lamp sometimes they get stuck and can be hard to turn or pop out

1998 Dodge Stratus Headlight Cover ?
Q. I have asked many questions about cleaning my headlights and none of them work and I do not want to spend hundreds of dollars to get new ones and get them installed. I have found a new solution I saw some black headlight covers for my car and they would look good too because of the color. If I put this on will it make it harder to see the road? when its dark. Also is there anyplace cheaper to buy them besides the link I listed below. Thanks, Vince

1998 Dodge Stratus Headlights?
Q. I just replaced the bulb in one headlight of my 1998 Dodge Stratus. Then, less than 24 hours later, the other headlight went out. Before I go and buy another bulb, could this be something else that I could check on my own?
Asked by WoodyGirl1 - Fri Apr 11 10:17:00 2008 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments
A. I wouldn't worry... Both headlights burn at the same time, so it makes sense that they would have similar life spans. Just make sure when you are replacing them you don't touch the glass portion of the bulb with a bare finger. Your skin oils will create a hot spot on the bulb causing bulb failure. You usually want to replace bulbs in pairs anyway so that you have equal brightness, and you only have to go through the effort to change them once.

why does my 01 stratus low beams dont work only high beams do?
Q. the fuses, the headlight relay, and the light bulb are all new and the low beams still dont want to work. what can be the cause of this? Is there possibility the the turnsignal switch dont work and need to replace it?
Asked by sexyme - Wed Jul 16 20:37:33 2008 - - 1 Answers - 0 Comments
A. Yes that is possible. Get a wiring diagram for it and locate the wire that feeds the low beams from the switch. It should be located in the large connector that is mounted on the bottom of the steering column under the dash. Test this wire for voltage while switching from high to low beams. If you get power the switch is working and you have a broken wire somewhere, if not the switch is bad. You should be able to find the diagram at the autozone website for free under repair info:) Good luck

How do I change a front headlight on my car.?
Q. I have an '06 Stratus and I can't figure out how to access the bulb. If anyone can help me, it would be appreciated. Thanks.
Asked by kelly - Thu Oct 9 19:07:27 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments
A. for the access to the bulb you need to open up your front hood and stuff your hand into the area where the bulb is from the inside of the hood.Every car is different, and im not sure how the inside of the stratus looks like, but usually where you access the bulb is from inside the hood and there is the rubber lid covering the inner part of the bulb.So you have to pull those rubber lid off and change your bulbs there. hope that gave you a headstart of where to start accessing your bulb.

Why do I keep losing my gauges on my 1997 Dodge Stratus?
Q. The gauges quit. The windshield wipers work but move VERY fast. The headlights get brighter. The radio, heater, and AC quit working. All this happens at the same time and only lasts for a max of 10 seconds. The car is working perfectly otherwise. No bad sounds. She starts up correctly. She has a new battery so I know that isn't the problem. Help! What is wrong with her? No offense people but please stop telling me it probably isn't worth the repair bill. I'm one of those drivers who likes to know how fast she is driving but doesn't know when the gauge dies. I'm waiting for the moment when the gauges finally completely die. My RPM gauge is dead in the water thanks to this problem.

A. some where you have a short circuit, that is what is making the other stuff run faster, have the dealership run a diagnostics machine on it to find the problem, that should fix it.

How do I black out my 2006 dodge stratus?
Q. I really wanna make my headlights black or look black. the same for my taillights. I would also like to paint the badges black. How do i get them to go back on and stay on after i paint them? Is there a way to pop the chrome part of my front bumper off so i can paint that black?

A. Im not sure about anything but the headlights/taillights and badges, auto zone or advance auto, not sure which one sells spray paint called nite shades, for blackin out lenses. remove or tape off the lenses and, lightly sand them to scuff them so paint will stick. spray light coats each time depending how dark you want them, heavy coats will cause it to run so be careful. the badges do the same lightly sand and re apply them with 3m two sided tape. hope this helps

How do I get rid of headlight discoloration?
Q. I have a 1997 Ford Escort (Not that it makes a difference, I had a 2001 Dodge Stratus that had the same issue) The headlight lenses are discolored and kind of yellowing, so they aren't as clear as they could be, if you understand what I'm saying. I've seen other cars the same as mine and similar in age with headlights that look like the lenses are brand new. What causes this? I believe my father said it has something to do with residue that the headlight gives off or something (which would make sense I guess, because my elderly ex-neighbor's headlights look pristine and she doesn't do a lot of nighttime driving). Is there any way to fix this without replacing the whole headlight? How much does replacing the whole headlight lens cost, and… [cont.]

Any One Offer Dodge Stratus Help?
Q. Just last night my 2001 Stratus decided that it's AC unit would not work while my headlights were on. So now every time I want the AC on, my headlights have to be off. A. somewhere you have lost a ground wire and its using the lights as a ground on it,finding it though is going to be really hard, check out in the relay center for a relay that's heating up on it,check the one that's closest to the head light relay on it,its possible the wires have melted and its using the next available ground wire which would be the head light relay ground circuit,i have seen stranger things than that happen to those cars,i also own two of them, good luck.

A. First answer is right but needs adding to. Have headlights OFF. Reach behind the headlight assembly and there is a black bulb holder there. Turn it and pull. You now have the bulb out to see it. Remove the bulb. now very important, You do NOT want to touch the new bulb. These new lights get very hot and if you touch the bulb and leave a oily fingerprint the bulb may burst, or it will definitely blow out sooner. You can wear gloves or you can wipe the bulb with alcohol after inserting it into it's receptacle, and wiping dry.
